With a wide grin, Pia did a small jump of eagerness and followed Anna. When told to, she straightened herself up as well as she could, and stood tall on the front edge of her shoes. “I’m tall enough.” She huffed despite her actions. Jim was usually brilliant at talking so smoothly she got into whatever ride despite her height (as long as both her parents agreed it wasn’t too dangerous for her).

She set her eyes on the ride, waving at a stranger trying it. Though it was indeed a stranger, Pia thought he looked familiar. The thought didn’t keep her for long, as someone across the street blew a bubble that collapsed against her ear and she giggled.

Nodding sagely, Anna agreed.  ”More then tall enough.”  Things went better if one acted like everything was as it should be, and Anna was a master at that these days.  Her hazel eyes followed Pia’s line of sight to see who she was waving at, a slight smile on her face.  ”Luckily, the line isn’t long at all,” she said as she queued with Pia.

The angel kept herself from ruffling Pia’s hair after she started giggling.  The small child was too adorable for her own good, and very outgoing.  The ride halted and the people on it filed off.  Then it was their turn.  Anna let Pia go ahead and pick the car she wanted to ride in, following closely behind her.

"Thank goooood," She agreed, drawing out the word like her father sometimes would when he was exhausted. When Anna let her pick a car, she looked around before musing "mm, the blue one!" She paced towards a dark blue car and sat down in it. "I haven’t been somewhere like this for soooo long.. I can’t remember the last time I was!"

"Nooo," Lied Pia. She hated having her hair up, unless it was her father that had done it. Even then, she wasn’t always positive about it. She kept walking towards all the things she could try, eagerly.  She took Anna’s hand, and nodded with enthusiasm. "Yes! We should try those!" Her gaze went over them, from the people trying them, to the people working there, to the machine itself, to the mechanisms, working it out.

"No?" Anna echoed in disbelief.  She had been a human at Pia’s age once before and not that long ago in grand scheme of things.  "Well, I’m sure it’s nothing a minor miracle can’t fix," she finally decided under her breath.  It was more fun to have your hair free and whipping about, Anna thought.

Holding the child’s hand lightly, Anna made her way to the ride with her. Pia’s interest in all the things around her was fascinating to watch.  Anna made a show of measuring Pia against the height board, teasing her just a bit.  ”Tippy toes, Pia.  I think the ride operator is looking.”

With a wide grin, Pia did a small jump of eagerness and followed Anna. Pia shook her head. She was used to being outside and suddenly in other countries with Freya. However caring she could be, she had a slight tendency to forget that Pia wasn’t as divine as herself.

She eagerly reached her wrist forward to get the band around it, and turned it to look at it all. “No, I don’t,” She sang gleefully. “I love carnivals! I wanna try everything!” Grinning, she looked around.

Anna stood and straightened, smiling down at Pia.  ”One last question, your hair won’t get tangled if we leave it down, will it?”  Sending Pia back in worse shape than she found her would get Anna in trouble with Freya, a situation Anna would avoid at all costs.

"I have a hair tie in my pocket if you need it."  Offering her hand to the tiny redhead, it made her think of how angels weren’t allowed to have children.  "I say we start with the spinning cups," she suggested and pointed to the bright ride amidst a dozen other smaller rides.

"Nooo," Lied Pia. She hated having her hair up, unless it was her father that had done it. Even then, she wasn’t always positive about it. She kept walking towards all the things she could try, eagerly.  She took Anna’s hand, and nodded with enthusiasm. "Yes! We should try those!" "Barker es un employé de mon pères." She said, and nodded thoughtfully at what Anna said. She took her hand as they walked, feeling more comfortable being guided like that. She looked around at the trees and people and dogs with much interest.

She couldn’t help but giggle. “Papa is daddy. Daddy is Jim. Dad is Seb.” Jim never called Sebastian by her full name, so her little mind never associated dad with Sebastian, but rather with Seb. “Freya is Freya, and you’re Anna.” She added, grinning at the bit of the ferris wheel she could spot.

"Ah," Anna hummed in understanding.  "You aren’t cold are you?" she asked in concern as she watched the child watch everything going on in the park.  "I am indeed Anna," she agreed with a smile.  She swung their hands a bit between them.

They neared the gate to the carnival.  Anna stopped to purchase wristbands for the rides and pay the entrance fees.  ”You don’t get motion sick and you aren’t scared of heights, I hope.” She stopped to put on the paper bands for them both after they handed their tickets to the man at the gate.  ”If so we can play games and get some snacks instead,” she assured Pia so she wouldn’t be apprehensive about anything.

Pia shook her head. She was used to being outside and suddenly in other countries with Freya. However caring she could be, she had a slight tendency to forget that Pia wasn’t as divine as herself.

She took Anna’s hand, and got on her feet. “Daddy will call if I’ve been gone for long. Or he’ll make Barker check up on me. Or dad, if he’s done early at work.” Sometimes even Freya, or some of their other employees. They were never mad at her for going out, but they sometimes sounded a bit anxious when they called her. She didn’t know why, though. Barker could seem a bit annoyed, but she just hugged him and then he didn’t seem as annoyed.

She looked down and blushed at being made aware of her accent. A giggle escaped her. “Ouis, je fais.” She said, her accent growing thicker. “Papa parle français au travail parfois.” She explained. “Il joue avec moi en français. C’est dur tantôt.”

"Barker?"  Anna asked as she helped Pia up with a gentle hand.  "Plus on le parle, plus il devient facile," she assured Pia with a tiny smile.  Anna had no idea what Pia’s family was like other than what she had been told by the small child herself.  The more Pia talked, the more curious the angel became about the child’s family.

"Which is which?  Papa is?"  Anna asked trying to sort out the first names of Pia’s parents.  They began the walk to the other side of the park.  A ferris wheel just peeked out of the tops of the trees in front of them.

"Barker es un employé de mon pères." She said, and nodded thoughtfully at what Anna said.

Pia and Anna

Pia tilted her head slightly, not sure why Freya would love her more, when there was so many other lovely and lovable creatures, and she was the goddess of love itself. Maybe it was one of those things adults just said to make you happy; one of those things that never ceased to confuse her. She let it be. “I’d love to.” She said instead, sounding court and posh, with a slight Parisienne accent. She heard her father talk in so many accent, and they played so many characters that she couldn’t yet control her accents and speech patterns when she was just being herself. “Can we go? Please?”

The confusion that clouded Pia’s face was interesting to Anna.  It was as if the child had no idea just how special she was.  Anna’s smile softened, glad that the child wasn’t full of herself.  It would have been easy for her to be, but instead she was down-to-earth.

"As long as you’re sure you don’t need to be home yet, I think we can go to the fair."  Anna pushed her self up off the grass, wiping off a few loose clippings.  She held a hand down to Pia to offer to help her up.  The angel noticed the slip into another accent, probably triggered by the excitement of going to a fair.  That Pia was learning different accents was curious to Anna.  Why and how that was happening was of interest to the angel.

"Ah, mon chou chou, you’ve come out to play,"  Anna answered back in an equally Parisienne accent, but still speaking English.  "Parles-tu français aussi?" she inquired as she waited on Pia to stand.

Pia raised her eyebrows curiously at Anna’s laughter. “But she could probably help. She always helps me.” Which was true. She made it snow in the winter, so they could build snowmen together, she helped her study when there was something that was hard to understand, she once even made a puppy talk, because Pia was sad.

"They’re working. I’m not sure when they’ll be home." She said with a shrug. They were in the middle of some big, important thing, but they assured her they’d be fine. Still, she waited until they were both home to go to bed, or she’d get nightmares.

"Of course she helps you, Pia.  You’re practically her daughter,” Anna smiled.  ”She loves you.  Probably more than any of the rest of beings.”  Anna knew Freya did her best to help the humans, but they also frustrated the Goddess with their whims and changeability.

"Oh, well.  Want to do something else then?"  Anna was curious about what Pia’s fathers were up to, but she kept any further questions about them at bay.  She leaned on her palm, elbow on the ground and propping herself up on her arm.  "There’s a fair going on on the other side of the park, past the lake."

She walks into his chamber without knocking. “Oh my prince, I am here!” She says sarcastically, and smirks at her own humour.

Nick rolls his eyes, and sits up. “Thank god. I thought I’d veritably perish without you,” Nick says back, scowling.

"Not quite." She says, and sits down on a chair, crossing her legs. "Are you at least going to show me around?"
